Ourém

R. Teófilo Braga 2, 2490-566 Ourém

In 1855, Dr. Agostinho Albano de Almeida wrote in his will that after his death, the building would be donated to create a hospital for the poorest people in the municipality. Thus, the Hospital de Santo Agostinho was built in 1880, the year of his benefactor’s death. It was here that Jacinta Marto, the shepherdess of Fatima, was hospitalized from July 1 to August 31, 1919.
In 1945, the bronze bust of Dr. Agostinho was inaugurated, by Luís Fernandes from Oure. The building had its façades and roof restored in 2011.
