History
Ourém
Horário de inverno (outubro a março): todos os dias, exceto à segunda, das 9h às 13h e das 14h às 17h.
The old town hall was built in the 15th century. It housed the Town Hall until 1841, when the county seat was transferred to Vila Nova de Ourém. Today, the first floor houses the Municipal Gallery (with arts and crafts exhibitions) and the first floor is home to the Nossa Senhora das Misericórdias Parish Council.
The pillory is unique in the municipality of Ourém and is a representative mark of the town’s municipal status. It is a pine cone pillory, with a shaft marked at half height by three frames. It bears the official coat-of-arms of the town of Ourém, carved with the date 1620.
The Ourém Municipal Gallery holds monthly solo and group exhibitions of plastic and visual arts.
