Lucia’s House

Next door to Francisco and Jacinta’s house is the house where Lucia de Jesus, the youngest of six siblings, was born and lived. The first interrogations of the seers took place there. In the backyard there are still fig trees under which the three little shepherds played and hid when they were sought out by onlookers or pilgrims.

In 1981, Sister Lucia offered the house to the Shrine, which only took possession of it in 1986. The area around the house was landscaped and a new Welcome and Information Point was built in the backyard, which opened in August 1994.
