The Praia Fluvial do Agroal (Agroal River Beach), which is part of the largest spring on the River Nabão, is much appreciated for its cold waters, which are reputed to be medicinal.
During the bathing season, this beach is very popular with locals and tourists alike. The construction of a natural swimming pool helps people relax in the area’s cold, thermal waters. The river itself divides the parishes of Sabacheira (belonging to Tomar) and Formigais (belonging to Ourém).
In addition to the river beach, the area has a small picnic area, a solarium and an open-air amphitheater. During the bathing season, the beach is guarded and frequented by an average of around 100,000 people.
