The Tree of Life, by malvada – Artistic Association
Agroal Nature Park
10:00 and 16:00
We know very little about plants, even though they have inhabited the Earth for much longer than us humans. Plants include some of the largest and smallest, oldest and newest, most fragrant and smelliest life forms on the planet. In this performance-workshop, we are led by a character called Acacia, the name of a plant brought to Portugal from the Antipodes because of its exotic characteristics, and which is now considered invasive. This character, who leads the performance, transforms the classroom into an empty space, full of possibilities.
She guides the participants through poetry, samples, images and stories about plants. These diverse beings are everywhere, on windowsills, in vegetable gardens, on the streets, in gardens and in the schoolyard. ÁRVORE DA VIDA is a performance, created by Ana Luena and José Miguel Soares, which involves the participants in a practical and dynamic way, promoting a taste for nature, reading, photography and art in general. This eulogy to plants includes the participation of the audience in the staging, through a script that promotes interactivity in real time. The performance combines text and original music, poetry, movement and an installation of photographic images.

Bat Night at Agroal
19:00h
The activity begins with a talk on bat-related topics: particularities of their morphology and biology, ecological and economic importance, threats and vulnerabilities, with reference to some of the national species, especially those that occur in the region surrounding Agroal. This will be followed by a field trip in the early evening in the vicinity of the Agroal Nature Park, where, with the help of ultrasound detectors, we will try to understand which bat species are using the area and how they are doing so.
