The little chapel of the Apparitions was built in 1919 in response to Our Lady of the Rosary’s request: “I want you to build a chapel here in my honour”.
The pedestal on which the original sculpture of Our Lady of Fatima stands marks the exact spot where the small holm oak on which the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to the three shepherd children – Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta – on 13 May, June, July, September and October 1917.
